Terminator ROBOTS, developed by scientists of MIT.

M Bots

Scientists at Massachusetts Institute of  Technology (MIT) have developed robots called M-Blocks. This robot is a Terminator style cube shaped Bot that can leap through the air, jump on top of each other and assemble together to form arbitrary shapes. It is believed that more refined versions of these “M-Blocks” can be used for repairing buildings and bridges or assemble as heavy equipment. These blocks have no external moving parts. These can move upside down when suspended from a metallic surface, climb over each other and other things around, roll on the ground, etc. Inside each robot is a flywheel that can reach speeds of 20,000 RPM, when this flywheel is braked, it imparts its angular momentum to the cube. The director of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) quoted that, “It’s one of these things that the community has been trying to do for a long time.”
