WhatsApp now available for Nokia Asha 501.


The most famous instant messaging application WhatsApp is now available for Nokia’s Asha platform. Nokia recently announced that the app will initially be available just for Asha 501. WhatsApp which grew viral as soon as it came on the Android market now has over 350 million active users.

“Starting November 21, all Nokia Asha 501 users can download the IM (instant messaging) application through a software update,” Nokia said in a statement.

Nokia Asha 501“Asha 501 will be the first device on the Asha Platform to support WhatsApp. The new interface comes with a single swipe camera, single touch share to Facebook and ability to track Facebook comments and likes right from your Fastlane screen,” Nokia India Director Marketing Viral Oza said.

Nokia said that the software will come pre-installed with WhatsApp in all new Asha 501 handsets, that are ready to hit the stores on December 5, 2013. The existing users can update the software through an over-the-air update.
